Entertainment District Arc
This season of Kimetsu no Yaiba started off with a bang, and lots of anticipation fuelled by the enthusiasm of my friend who had been asking me to watch it since forever. Truth be told, you might like it but if you are like me who does not enjoy rinse-and-repeat plots it might not be for you.
The entertainment district is most likely a topic of taboo for many but throughout the series there are no explicit references. I was a little disappointed, for there was not much of a story. In fact, it reminded me of its prequel, Mugen train where the three protagonists go along with a Hashira to hunt down a strong demon. This season has the same stuff, but with a different Hashira.
I didn’t enjoy the fights too much either. It was almost as if most of their successes during the fights were turned to naught as I proceeded further into the series.
I can’t stress enough on how good the animation was though, and the OP was absolutely epic!
There were a few spells of comedy, but a lot of the fighting was too serious to have any fun in-between. Possibly the most needed but at the same time unneeded part was when they relayed the history of the upper rank demons. For the rest of the season that didn’t feel great, this felt like the nauseous feeling from motion sickness.
Having not read the manga, I cannot surmise the series as a no-go but I don’t plan on watching further seasons based on my present mood.
My review on the prequel spoke about Tanjiro throwing his sword while chasing the demon towards the end of Mugen train arc. I’m happy they tied up its loose ends at the beginning of Entertainment district arc.
As a final note, I’ll say as opposed to what I initially thought, Demon Slayer is more suited for a smaller age group.
